Hi guys,

Just a thought. Is it worth it, to space out the standard turbines to improve the appearance ?

I'd like a slightly wider and balanced look as the wheels are kinda hiding under the valver arches, but don't want to screw my handling on pay silly money. How much is it safe to space them out by on standard bolts and without catching the arches?

Front: ?
Rear: ?

And why is the auto change word on for tur bines? to turdbines? That's rather childish. A bit like the 1 7 2 to 17poo.

I had 15mm spacers on the front of my RSi, needed longer bolts too, did improve the handling, esp the turn in, but i found with mine, even though they were eibach i got a vibration at higher speeds with em.

Also puts more stress on wheel bearings, bolts etc

wide track and or willy wheels (or another 7J wheel) are probably the best, most reliable way of doing this but obviously not the cheapest.

most i would go with spacers is 15 mil but longer bolts are recomended.

make sure you have at least 6 turns of the bolt

:( To be fair, they do look a bit like like turdbines now anyway, as they haven't seen a wash in 8-12 weeks *eek*. I keep wiping clean the lenses and number plates, but putting off washing the car since it has been so darn cold and frosty (and dark by the time I get home from work).

Anyway... i've put cheap spacers on before to clear coil-overs on another car, but that was only 5mm, and without them being hub-centred, unless you got it right, would cause vibration.

Not really looking to widetrack, as I doubt anyone looking at a valver would really 'appreciate' the difference and see the value of it, if I were to sell the car. (Plus it robs another williams of it's parts which is a shame).

Where would I get longer bolts from? (ebay?)

Most good tyre bays, mechanics or motorfactors should be able to sort you longer bolts.

spacers are fine as long as they are hub centric ones with longer bolts. don,t really put any more stress on bearings than driving them harder...
