How much faster would my 1.8 valver go if i stripped it out like martin/winstons? As fast as a standard williams? or am i getting my hopes up.

Do it anyway... it makes me smile walking over to the stripped williams

About 1 bhp equivalent for every 6kgs

Whats martins weight?

Martin

Will be as quick as a stnd williams I think but it would be close....bog stnd williams run 15.3/4 plus up the strip and a valver back seats out ran 15.48 last time I was there...

Might do a comparison with my g-tech pro. I can run 15.85 with that. Might strip it out and try it then on the same stretch of road.

Mine is over 100 kg's lighter than stnd btw... so according to strombas formula that equal to about 16 bhp...

Martin - Just out of interest.....

How much more weight is there to come out of my car? Bearing in mind i want to be able to put it all back at some point

There is fair bit fella..depends on how much hassle you want to go through...the gains become smaller and smaller and the hassle increases! lol The carpet with thick ass sound deadning weighs over 10kg's...I presume you've already taken out...

spare wheel, cage and exhaust heatshield on back box and rear seat belts? Thats as far as I would go on a williams the rest is much more hassle - interior panels, bolts, sound deadning behind dash, roof lining, stereo, speakers, dash..etc

I've just put my passenger seat back in today and it's surprising how much they weigh...10kgs for the seat but the runners and mounting brackets must be at least 5-6kgs...it'll be out again for the next 1/4 miling session..

That's a far as i'm going then - at the moment, it's made a huge difference and it's all very easy to put back :D

this strippin out business, does it not unsettle the car ?

Think it depends on your driving style Brun, i dont like the feel of a stripped Williams. Some can probably cope with the lose back end, but i think it takes some of the fun away. No question they are quicker in a straight line stripped.

I don't know how it feels standard tbh it's been that long...lol But mine is'nt great over bumpy fast corners but most of the time it only becomes unsettled when you delibratley provoke it.

it feels loads quicker, but the car gets more tail happy and doesnt feel stable above 1oomph on the motorway in strong winds.

Mines never really tail happy :?

The front end of my car has lots of grip tho... It a quite light at the front about 30-40kg lost with the bonnet and lack of P/S steering.....

..Torque steers abit tho :P ....no more second for round abouts....more speed and 3rd all the way

I have removed

Power steering pump and rack
Seats
doorcards
centre console
door plastics
spare wheel
cage
glove box door
roofliner
roof plastics
alarm and interior light
All carpets
one mirror lol
strip the tailgate
cut unneed wires from the loom
wiper...cali style lol
side strips
grille
sun visors
all clips and shitty bits
interior handles

I find little extra bits to remove all the time lol

easy to live with....hmmmmm ish

Try it what you got to loose apart from 100kg  lol :D I think it will make the valver pick up to 4k abit fast

still got to tidy the wires up   and the carpets in to keep the noise down....it's a heavy ****er tho lol, comes out for play time

Hmm, i'm getting quite tempted to strip out the rear seats, just dont want to get carried away with it if i do start!

Probably gain more if i went on a diet rather than putting the car on one though!

Andyvalver

lol do it. The rear seats are easy to take out. No tools needed

The nets to stop stuff in the boot..flying up and hitting me head under harsh braking, also looks cool lol
