is it really a necessity to have an oil cooler
on f7 type engines ? i am in 2 minds about ditching the
standard f7r one i got at the moment

anyone running hybrids with no oil cooler
and problems ?

Old hybrid ran fine with no cooler, runs hotter in this shell for some reason, gotta be gauge, thats the only thing that hasn't been replaced, doesn't exceed 120deg on long motorway runs, would imagine round a track it would get alot hotter, got an air cooled one now tho.

Std one is shite, want a nice air cooled one

standard one is a poor design. though renault deemed it necessary and went for the extra expense. air cooled thermostatic controlled item is better and andy might have one for sale. not sure if there necessary on a normal road going engine. renault thought so.

What`s the highest acceptable oil temperature for F7P (1.8 16v) engine?

Depends on the type of oil, some handle higher temps better than others, its the pressure you wanna watch, once it starts to drop thats your limit, Shell Helix 5W40 is good to around 130deg

I think mine does not have an oil cooler, judgeing from the odd pie setup...seems to run fine and very cool, though it is freezing nowadays!

I just checked, the oil cooler is there, just hidden under lots of stuff! Dunno if it is connected though as I have weird pipes.
