is this a good deal?

i purchased this 106 last week

http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/316520.htm

and have now been offered this as a straight swap

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=110205657755&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=001

does anyone know much about these, tuning potential? reliabilty, common faults etc its a rev 2, 220bhp non lsd :(

but i think it may be fun :D do people think its worth it?

cheers lewis

for me no, the pug is worth more than the mr2...

mr2's are quick but with it being the lower Revision models, you will be surprised at how slow it is as standard... the only one to have is the Rev 3, but you will be needing a bit more than £2k

even with it being a cat c?

and i got it cheap like the budgie?

ahhhh didnt see that bit! thats what computing and babysitting do to your vision! haha

hmmmm tough one, the mr2's are loads of fun! but you have to be careful with any turbo'd car as its easy to pop on a mechanical boost control and up boost so its rapid as fook! but it kills the engine.

if you got a great deal on it then meet up and check out the mr2, mr2 pricing is hard, fluctuate from peanuts to loadsa money, so could be a winner?

it looks ok to me, he says its up for 2100 locally, i value it at 1500 so is well worth me doing the swap, however i dunno bout the fuel bill!!!!!

he says its mechanically sound. no boost controller and just flew through an mot.

the t-bar leaks a bit of water sometimes in the rain.

suppose its okay if you wanna look like a hairdresser, the 106 wins it for me (apart from the paint colour)

its a myth that all turbo's are expensive, it all depends on its set up, when it spools up, when its at maximum boost etc.... i used to get 20+ on my evo if you drive it sensibly and know when the turbo kicks in, you can keep it on very low boost if any at all and get great mpg...

cain it and it goes down faster than your rev counter goes up lol

do it, cat c cars can be hard to sell, so get yourself some 2 seater fun! easy to tune too.

think some of you are missing the point, its a business choice not one of the 'heart'....

Having sold a number of cat d and cat c cars, they can be a little hard to shift. he got a steal on his pug and can make money by having an mr2, have a play and sell for a profit later on... thats the way you have to look at it.

missus brother has a turbo mr2 in black, 1993 rev 2 but has had lsd box but in it from later revision. had it just over 2 years and never skipped a beat but he's kept it totally standard, down to original jap dealer mats etc in it!

lovely car, but dont handle amazing, and bit mental in the wet plus heavy as hell!

thats pretty much it, the williams is my keeper car, and i like to chop and change my other ones. the gti is mint and a nice car to drive but i just dont feel right in it. i only put it for sale to see what i get offered and a blokes come up with this, also been offered a 205 with mi16 and a e30 318 beemer. the mr2 is just a bit of fun for a while, if it goes through

get the mr2, nice cars, just be careful in the wet... they are quick, and can be made really fast..

common faults with rev1 and 2's are bottom ends going..
