Be interested to see how you go - I could be in need of a wheel refurb myself - lets us know what you think of the finish..

How much per wheel by the way??

£25 per wheel near me, that includes blasting and cleaning and powder coating any colour

Make sure you wash the polished rims regularly over winter - salt got to mine and ruined them :(

got wheel wax which ill be using, and ive got lots of metal polish

having them done by the manchester franchise of lap tab
http://www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk/

paying £160 to have them powder coated, the rim polish will be extra, but he is taking the tyres off my current wheels and putting them on the refurbed ones, FOC, cant argue with that

i know places are cheaper, but ive had cheap jobs done before and they just dont last, these come with a 12 month warranty, and if i kerb a wheel inside 3 months they will sort it for free, not gonna happen but good as a back up

sounds like a good deal that Brun.... change your avitar, makes me hungry every time i see it! haha

as for the place i go too, yeah they do a good job, they have done some of Gaztwo's wheels, they blasted and primed my tur-bines which when painted and laquered looked superb!

probably best speaking to gaz about the powder coating finish, but his looked great. gloss black willy wheels i think he had done?

dont think anyone has perfected the willy wheel gold in a powder coat yet mate

its a shame mine are being done really, as the colour match is perfect, but my car isnt a williams so i dont want them gold, and they had painted the 2nd inner edge silver aswell as the lip so it wasnt correct anyway

BRUN

oh forgot to mention that the price im paying is the result of a special offer they have on at the moment, 25% off for sets of 4 done in December, after that its £200 but maybe with a bit of negotiation he might do a deal ?....for club members maybe ?

Could you tell me the correct colour code for Williams wheels? I got a code: Sikkens-Akzo Nobel R 9312 but this code is unknown in every paint shop. Any idea?

these wheels a;ways look sweet in white

when i got 3 centre caps from renault
2 suited my wheels bang on the odd 1 suited my spare but is a very different gold
my wheels seem creamy the spare is gold
if u looked i bet u couldnt spot the 1 i didnt replace

i got them to replace them and ended up with the 3 i wanted matched the wheels perfect
even Renault arnt consistent with the colour

he does have a 17" wheel powder coated in the Renault gold if anyone wants to compare it, the fella who runs it is great, talked me through everything yesterday and shown me some other wheels they have done and some work in progress, really felt like my business was important to him not the kind of treatment you get sometimes at Pro Clean in Prescot, he spent some time asking me exactly what i wanted etc

I remember you saying that...

Truth be told I prefer a lighter gold than genuine gold

In the wrong light gen ren wheels look mustard

BRUN

yea its hard to tell from pics, depends on the camera and the lighting conditions

Derek has asked if anyone local has any wheels that havent been refurbed, originals in the genuine colour, that way he can compare the colour he currently has and see how close it is, i told him how fussy you lot where with this wheel colour lol

got my prima's they look pretty original, but obviously there may be differences?

Northy is your best bet?

Can he not just use the official akzo code? I believe the prep is the most important part of getting the correct colour out of the paint...

Mine need mimimal work - they're pretty immaculate to be honest! just a couple of centre caps are cracked and the drivers side rim needs a polish as it seems the splash guard scraped it when the bumper decided to explode

BRUN

if i remember ill ask him about that when i pick mine up, but isnt it a paint code, are powder coat codes different ?

Daz.
08-12-2007, 15:24
I wouldn't have mine powdered - the other wheels I will be but not the willy wheels - gonna get them furbed and only use them in the summer.

hehe me in my kitchen, they look kinda too gold in the pics if you know what I mean, they aint a bad match, not perfect but better than when I had them done professionally.

Looking forward to seeing the white numbers, always liked Mehdis white throttle bodied motor with the white williams wheel, looked awesome
