How to use?
- select the proper gearbox number on the Final torque ratio table (for example: JC5-014)
- the 2nd column of this table shows the final torque ratio (4.067)
- the 3rd column of this table shows the "ratio sign" (D)
- the "ratio sign" shows proper row of the selected gearbox on the gear and torque ratio tables (0.324, 0.537 / 3.091, 1.867 etc)

Enjoy!

Or if you ask me nicely I can send you the Excel file I created which has all the JB1, JB3 and JC5 combinations and also allows you to enter a tyre size and revs to give you the speed in each gear at those revs.

Could you send me this excel file, please? I don't have much information about JB1 and JB3. If you interest I have a theoretical max velocity calculator I can send it you (it takes account of drag, rolling resistance etc) . Or I have comprehensive documents about Willy's traction chain, suspension and brake system (but these ones are written in Hungarian by me as a homework at the University).

What difference to acceleration and driving, would the final torque ratio make? i.e does the lower torque ratio mean that it will apply less torque to the wheels than another box? :?

Only reason I ask is that my williams gearbox is knackered and I have the opertunity to buy a JC5-002 (think williams JC5-014?) i was wondering what the differentce in acceleration would be..

Cheers
Dan

The acceleration will be increased by the higher final torque ratio if you can shift fast. Your speed will be lower in all gear at a fixed RPM and naturally the top speed will be lower, too.

The lower final torque ratio has an opposite effect.

I have a refurbished JC5 -037 box ready to put on.... now I have just realised that it is not a Willy box... what effect would putting a 037 type box on my car have?

I've got a JC5 S15 gearbox from a laguna on my valver, yet the code never seems to show up on any JC5 listings i've seen. Weird!

Must be a freak of a box! :D

the 037 is shorter than the 014 (about 10%), so it will be quicker, at the expensive of the top speed/economy/noise on the motorway etc..

but otherwise OK? I do very little motorway driving so like the idea of it being quicker lower down.... I thought the Willy box had baffles in and the like to stop oil surge during cornering....? surely they won't be in an 037 box?

didn't know that!

so a JC5 S15 is actually a JC5 015?
