Summit that goes back to me A level physics days:

Your Peripheral Vision has far better reaction times than your primary vision.

So in theory when on a drag strip it might pay not to look at the lights but keep them in the corner of your eyesight, to save time on a launch.

Just a theory though, never been 1/4 miling so cant confirm this.

Watch bruce lee in a fight. He looks at opponents out of the corners of his eyes for this very reason.

i thought he looked at body to see where all attacks are coming from... the looking out the corner of the eye thing is prolly down to the fact he's taking on multiple bad guys...

Well to be honest reaction time is more a genetic component of the cns. You have fast reactions or you dont. Fastest starts in sprinting come by anticipation of the gun. If you wait for the lights to change, its too late. :D

Or just go on the yellow light, by the time you react you'll be be bang on

thats the main idea..set off when u see the first yellow light, 0.4 sec between 1st and last lights kinda means if u raise the clutch as soon as u see the light, 0.4sec will pass before u set off easily

I did a 0.147 one time when it was wet..thats my best. I don't usually concentrate on it tbh prefer to try to get the launch right instead...
