i know i should probably know this, but ive never really looked into it before and i thought you lot might have some info

the Renault box oil for our Clios is TRJ 75W-80, however Elf make quite a few box oils, some for specific boxes but others are fairly general purpose

TRX for example, seems to be everything TRJ is but better ??

TRZ is also a fully synthetic 75W-80, so would this be suitable ?

i cant help but thinking that they have been using TRJ for probably 20 years, and im thinking some of the newer box oils might be better ?

might see if i can speak to Elf about it all tomorrow if i get time.

theres a tech note which lists which oils renault reccomend for vehicles/boxs

i was gonna print it out but not had time tbh, think its NT-6012A iirc

the TRX oil is normally used in the PK/PF gearboxs which are in for example the master and traffic vans

one of the reasons renault recommend the TRJ for ours was due to problems with poor gear selection with the incorrect oil used a few year ago!

spoke to a technician and he said the fully synthetic TRZ is pretty good and makes changing easier in the morning, might give that a go next time
