although i do love my williams, and it'll be a lil while b4 i get rid, i was thinking of what to get next. in a year or two I would think about selling, unless I have problems with her!
anyway I do like clio 182 n the cups n all that, but, theres sumthing a little dull about them i think, perhaps its because they look so std compared to original car anyway, or maybe that theres so many versions, cup, 172, 172 cup, trophy, etc etc
So i looked at the clio v6. wow, it looks badass. and im sure it shifts. so basically, any thoughts or opinions? anyone owned one?

I am a proud owner of a vee :D Have just bought a project valver hence joining this club 8)

This is my car:

I have owned the car for 2 years and still gives me that initial rush when i look/drive it.

The car is so individual and such a crowd puller.

I normally get bored with cars very quickly but not this one!!

I am a member of the v6clio.net and is a very well run, friendly site that has enhanced the ownership of such a fantastic car :D

I've had a ride home in a ph1 v6

amazing car, loved the noise and acceleration

everyone was looking too - not sure if I could live with that

Also been in the Vee's daddy - the five turbo 1 - even better!

ive driven a mk1 v. Very nice however the handling isnt like a williams. The noise is to die for mate.

Joing the cliov6 lot - they are a good bunch!

quite a big difference between the Mk1 and Mk 2 by all accounts....

they are all very quick but wouldn't see which way a Williams went around the twistys

bayliss has got one, been out in his, the induction noise is awesome, they're quick, but not the quickest thing for the money tho. but i do think they're awesome.

I was lucky enough to have a go in uncle steve's Vee through the tunnels at Rockingham  :D

Absolutely awesome noise 8)

Steering didn't have the feel of a willy/valver though, and it doesn't feel much different in the front to a 'normal' clio, but I'd have one for the looks alone :)

I haven't driven one properly unfortunately but the mk2's are apparently ace - one day I will, one day... lol

I dont think youd get much of an escort cossie for 10k tbh usually damaged or left hand drive money! More like 13-15k for decent standard ish models v6 clios are much cheaper considering the age of them, sound very nice and are quick but theres much more potential with the cossie, depends what you want, very different cars in every way! One thing they have in common though is that they are both two of the most radical looking factory cars ever made!

Matty86

as amazing as the escos is, I wouldnt call its looks radical!

and they arent particularly quick in std trim.

but then.i dont think the vees are either.

Maybe not now but when it came out there wasnt much that stood out as much as them, i know its a ford escort but with pretty much every panel being beefed up/changed i wouldnt really class them as subtle!

Maybe i should have said sporty- i was pissed last night in my defence  :D

I've never driven or owned one but I would absolutely love one. I'm a bit of a Mk2 hater, but the V6 is another kettle of fish and I would have one in an instant if I could.

cossies 0-60 is 5.7....i think thats good off theline acceleration...esides turbos are so easy to tune, and the cossie is ten times more practical. i guess the clio would be a better choice in terms of dollar, id be looking at one in a year to two years, and prices might have dropped a little bit by then, cossies wont i suspect.

i eat clio v6s. mmmmmmm

tey sound and look the tits tho but IMO they need a turbo charger should have been as standard!!! then it wuld be sumthing wroth buying lol

had a nosey round marks and its lovely thing, just a bit weighty!

sounds like an animal n all, thats the selling point!

also heard it only came about as Renault caught wind if VW's 3L Lupo, which turned out to be a version of the lupo that could do 100km of 3 litres of fuel, but renault thought shite a brick, 3 litre engine in a lupo, quick lads ring the renaultsport guys, and the clio v6 was born! urban legend....probably but i like it as a story!

I've always said I'd have one - Yes theres far easier ways to go quicker for the money but its so different to everything else - A cossie at the end of the day is just a escort shell with a towel rail on he back - god I'd love to have a play in one but I'd be going home in the vee no problem...

Plus I reguarly look at that supercharged v6 vid and like it mucho 8)

And even a Renault V6 will probably be more reliable than a tuned RS anything LoL

titcharoony
20-12-2007, 12:48
ahh thats it, and do bear in mind it shares none a single escort panel, theyre all handmade and a different size to any escort panel.
Plus theyre rare as rockin horse poo. I dunno, i just miss turbo charged thrills really, perhpas thats whats drawing me to them. And reliability yes the renault is perhaps better as its newer and better put together. but consider the parts costs - astronomical. plus you dont get alot for what you pay for, practicality wise, the escort trounces it. and round the twistys, itd kill it. i dunno, the most successful rally car in history i think is a bit special... im still loving the v6...lol we'll see.

why not an evo... :?

Daz.
20-12-2007, 13:19
You can't compare the two cars performance wise - if your after going fast then get the cossie, and like you say it will be far more practicial..

When it comes down to it - it really depends on your top of the list reason for getting either!

Park them side by side for example in a car park
- Ren fans will look at the v6 all misty eyes and nod respectfully to the ford..

- Ford fans will do the same the other way round

Mr. Average Joe Jnr - what would he look at? <--- if thats the top of the list for you then its gotta be the Vee

Thats my example out of the way :D as I said fella whats at the top of your tree????

but a v6 is just a clio with a vee pushed in the back and a bodykit glued on

ive driven a 600bhp race prepped esc cosworth and it was amazing! id love to own even a std one!

and its quite abvious what the cosworth is over a std esc, its like saying the 16v/williams looks same as a 1.2!

indeed. and as a graphic designer i have to say what a brilliant drafting your tree is daz. haha. i guess the escort has more kudos, and thats what id be going for. the special factor. v6s arent special enough for me yet.
