a friend of mine had a cam belt snappage while driving the
meggy f7r a few days back , after takin the head off for
inspection he finds 10 bent valves and marks on pistons
where the valves hit :?

i have not seen how deep the marks are but would there
be a slight chance of saving the pistons at all or would they
need to be replaced with spottless new ones ??

Pistons might be ok, but could be bruised the shells.

Not always, mate bought a car with 16 bent valves, was fine with just them replaced.
Suck it and see!

Havent got any pics on this comp mate soz, yeh bottom end is fine, there was a worrying moment when i got it all in running that the shells might have been bruised as mat brown said, had a knock on cold start up which went away after a minute or so, turned out to be a dodgy FRAM!! Filter, changed for a genuine and ive had no problems

mine had 16 bent vavles in the past when i bought it, left marks on all 4 pistons and it was fine with just a top end rebuild. so u prolly be ok.
