Power in BHP / weight of car as a decimal of 1 tonne (so 930kg = 0.93) * by 1

weight really does make quite a difference doesnt it

how much does the spare weigh ?

KingStromba
06-06-2005, 23:38
I calculate once that 1 bhp for every 6kg's you lose.

Spare is about 15 kg's

KingStromba

Standard Williams: Pretty accurate

Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 150
Weight without Driver (KG) : 990
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 153.95
0 - 60 (Secs) : 7.04
0 - 100 (Secs) : 19.12
60 - 100 (Secs) : 12.08
Quarter Mile (Secs) : 15.49
Terminal Speed (MPH) : 90.00
Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 15.29
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 91.57

so to lose 50kg you really need to strip a decent amount really

JonnyK
06-06-2005, 23:51
what sorta weight would my stripped out RT shell be? with no spare wheel, wheel cage, rear seats, rear panels ?

KingStromba
06-06-2005, 23:55
I weighed everything once.

Spare wheel about 15kg
Rear seats 20 kg
Front seat 15 kg
Fuel 45kg for a tank full
Washer bottle 1kg with fluid
Rear wiper motor and assembly 7 kgs

So running on fumes and stripped fro that lot gets weight to about 887 kg.

Hahahaha mine and martins must weigh fook all

Maybe this is more on the mark

Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 150
Weight without Driver (KG) : 800
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 190.51
0 - 60 (Secs) : 5.96
0 - 100 (Secs) : 15.58
60 - 100 (Secs) : 9.62
Quarter Mile (Secs) : 14.41
Terminal Speed (MPH) : 96.16
Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 14.21
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 97.90

JonnyK

going on the fact my car should weigh around 880kg? plus assuming it makes 180bhp

Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 180
Weight without Driver (KG) : 880
Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 207.83
0 - 60 (Secs) : 5.59
0 - 100 (Secs) : 14.15
60 - 100 (Secs) : 8.55
Quarter Mile (Secs) : 14.01
Terminal Speed (MPH) : 99.52
Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 13.81
Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 101.33
