Went out to night for a drive, on my way home i was pulling out of a junction on a hill and the car spun and then a mighty clunk, carryed on driving for a bit thinking it was just a pot hole i hit, start to slow down and the whole car starts shakeing gets it to my house and has a quick look and the bolt going from the gearbox mount to the gearbox has snapped it looks like there is a bracket on the gearbox that the bolt goes into, has any 1 experienced this and would i b able to just change the bracket and get a new bolt or would i hav to drill the rest of the bolt out and retap it??? plzzz help!!!!

hi mate they break often.

easy to get a spare mounts from mat brown etc.

but yes the bolt does come out and be changed separately if you can remove it.

Think its happened to most people, me on my first day of Williams ownership!

Easy enough to sort out.

Invest in the R19 mount, it'll stop it happening again.

Renault charge something daft just for the bolt so might as well get the whole bracket/bolt 2nd hand for less.

2 of mine went few months back stripped it down got a angle headed drill drilled the bolts out easyouted them and put new bolts in. not to hard to do just need a r19 mount now.

think last one i bought was only bout £20 for the mount and pin/bolt. not overly expensive, and tbh, i wouldnt buy 2nd hand as its false economy. they could break at any time.

the r19 mount was bout £40 all up. again from reno, this includes the plate to bolt to the box, the mount/rubber, and the bolts etc. again not too bad.

iirc the 1 7 2 bits are the same except the rubber joint, pos a little more but pretty much identical part iirc
