View Full Version : Removing Reserve tank
Who's done it?
Is it as easy as taking tanks off and then just swapping pipes over so it don't switch to reserve?

im looking at fuel systems now.
I think you need a filler pipe from another renault without the reserve tank.
Andy
i've done it, piece of piss, get a low model clio without the tank tubing, rip the tank off and filler neck and replace with the bypass tube
the only thing is the fitment isnt spot on as the lower clios dont have flared arches
this is what need removing, the bypass pipe is a direct replacement to the tank, only thing is theres one less connection on the bypass, so note which breather it is when u change, and stick a bolt n jubille clip on the end of the spare tube, job done

could i not samco elbow and SS tube it?
yes and no.
won,t have the breathers and samco hoses is not for fuel use unless lined.
plus its more expensive, plus u need to botch the samco to the filler neck top. the conversion on mine cost a total of £5 from the local scrappers!

1 question. why?
because its also lower than the standard tank and all on one side.

winston you got the gear needed?
am i looking for a 1.2 or something at the scrappers?
does it matter what phase?
TBH my main concern was how low the ****er sits under the car
needs to be same phase as ur car as the petrol caps are at different angles, can be off a 5 door tho if needs be. ai 1.2, 1.4, maybe even rsi?
oh n ends up lookin a little empty under there n all afterwards! :P

Waste of time imo.
Comes in handy having fuel in reserve when the light comes on, and you got more distance to drive on.

its 20kgs of fuel saving isnt it?
how much petrol does it hold?
its 20kgs of fuel saving isnt it?
You'd still ahve same amoutn of fuel inb the main tank, weight saving its **** all
how much petrol does it hold?
1 gallon or 5ltrs iirc
5ltrs = 5kg's
5 ltrs of water = 5kg at 20deg C for pH7 water, fuel is lighter
