ok so my little willy has blown the seal on the oil filter a couple of times now, i've changed to a thinner oil and touch wood all seams ok.
my question is as follows - is there an oil pressure release valve/regulator?? if so where is it? easy job to change? fix? how much?
has only blown the seals when its cold and the oil is at its thickest.
cheers peeps.
How do you drive it when its cold?
I try not to go above 2.5k till the temp is getting up towards 60-80 deg, try to keep the oil pressure on teh gauge under 6 bar ie max
As far as i know there isn't, also make sure you aren't over filling the oil?
yes there is its fitted into the oil pump in the sump.

I wouldn't be driving it around with that fault mate, my mates was firing oil out of the dip stick...it died after a week or so.

if it was coming out of the dipstick i would say that it was very very blocked up,something like the crank breather.
mine runs fine when warm, i can drive like a loon when she's warmed up, its just when cold i have to nurse it.
See how the 5w40 oil goes
a lot of people say dont do it, but could try and engine flush.

how?
WYNNS engine flush, comes in a can for a fiver from hellfrauds
done it to most of my cars at 1st oil change, good stuff but can leave your engine a tad tappetty!!
I've done it, its just if there are any little oil leaks that have been blocked up with shit you can find it opens them up
