Sorry if this has been covered before, but why do they dissipate the heat more effectively than standard calipers?

It's because they're alloy isn't it?

Is it not because there are 4 pistons sharing the load of the braking, instead of one large one? The pad surface area is larger too, so heat isn't built up as quickly?

The heat is dissapated better for a couple of reasons. 1 the caliper is forged alloy, and 2 the pistons are all stainless steel which stops any heat that does build up getting back into the system to boil the fluid. Incidentally the pad surface area is only very slightly larger than standard, not enough to make any difference though.

As they are forged they are also stronger than cast calipers and much,, much lighter. Wilwood pads are also very good and can take some serious abuse.

Scott, wont affect abs at all, you just need to get used to having much stronger brakes for less pedal effort.

Wheel bearings also last much longer when exposed to track abuse because of the lack of heat build-up.

They really are that much better. I have used them for years without any problems on various cars which is why we have now started basing our brake kits on Wilwood calipers.

The Clio kits start at £360 inc delivery which includes everything needed apart from brake fluid and new standard size discs if your old ones are scored. We can do this at an extra of £17 a litre for Dot 4 Millers racing fluid and Ferodo discs for £40.

For £360 the kits comes with the Poly E pad rated to 900 degrees F, but they also have very good cold performance as well.

I always ran with mine disconnected, but obviously its down to your personal preference. Just pull the abs fuse out of the main box under the dash.

Try it and see what its like, you cna always just put the fuse back in.
