clio 16v and 19 16v are same in terms of fitment, as Neil says, inlets are smaller on non williams versions. the early 19 heads had water pipes pressed into head, however they can still be used.

to summarise, all can be used, but in terms of being ideal, you really want a williams head (or at least I would), then a clio 16v, then a 19 16v.

another factor to bear in mind is that 19's are older and so have had more use/miles.

how much difference would a 1.8 16v head make if it was fitted to a williams bottom end, in terms of power etc?

you mean how much less power would it make..

not a lot really in standard form but a few extra when ported and polished.

maybe 5bhp and more like 10/15bhpwhen sorted out.

what about if a 1.8 16v head was ported and valves enlarged to match a williams? just thinking is it possible to use a megane 2l bottom end with a a 1.8 head if the valves are enlarged?

Thats no problem will work fine, not sure if it will have a performance gain over a williams head, might as well have megane valves fitted if your getting the seats recut

Yes but the amount it costs to modify the head for the larger valves, you may aswell find yourself a Williams head from somewhere and pocket the change.

yes but you can turn megane valves down to fit on standard seats.

but yes a willy head will be cheaper but a ported and flowed big valve 1.8 head will out flow a willy head. or mod a willy head.

largest size valve you can get on a standard seat is a 32.4mm with getting it to flow well. after that you need megane seats and can run 34mm/35mm valves from a peugoet i think.
megane valves which can be had cheap secondhand a turned down on a lathe to 32.4mm and squeezed on standard seats.
