if possible avoid 3s.......as northy said the sunroof is always a problem on this mk clio

1s are the lightest ......and the quickest.......and most sought after

2s are a good compromise if u cant get a 1...and still dont have any driver aids

3s are toys galore.....extra weight..........less speed........wrong colour....and abs

rear arches

Check:

Oil leaks
All suspension coomponents
Idles at around 1100 then drops to 900
Oil pressure should be high when booting it, low to middle when idling
Oil temp should be between 90 (idle) and 120 (booting it)
Water temp should be about half way or lower
Oil guage in cockopit innacurate use dip stick
Oil should be 10w 40
Inside should be unmarled (it wears very well)
On acceleration and lift off, excessive gear stick movement back and forwards indicates dog bone mount worn (not a big problem)
Clutches are heavy as standard
Rev limiter is very harsh
Tyre wear should be even
Check springs arnt broken
Coolant should nor be rust coloured

During the test drive, when the engine is warmed up.

The correct dial positions should be:-
1) Oil temp - Between 80C to 100C
2) Oil pressure - Between 2 to 4 psi for normal driving revs. About 0.5 to 1 psi during idle.
3) Water temperature - Between the 2 middle marks.

Thanks guys

You've been a great help, now all i have to do is browse till i find an example that looks good.

Budget is 3.5 k so i think i may be up against it.

owned a fiesta RST and series 2 for years and can't be assed with problems. Taking my time to choose an example that won't cause to much grief to my wallet.
