Was driving along giving it some beans then when i changed gear there was a hugh puchshhhh and the engine cut out so I rolled onto a verge.

Anyways in a nutshell the cambelt was intact so I stripped the cam & belt covers off turned the engine over and only one shaft was tuning I soon discovered the bolt that holds the pulley onto the camshaft had snapped.

Now the questions are...

1. Whats the likelyhood of me not doing any damage to the valves :?
2. Are all willy camshafts the same ie willy 1,2 & 3's and are they handed like left cam shaft and right?
3. Are there any other camshafts that can be used i.e. megane...?

Thanks for your help in advance

ive had this twice! yes you will have bent valves, mine was sat idling and bent 2!

the cams are different theres inlet and exhaust camshafts, so you need to replace whichever broke for likewise,

ideally you need willy cams (1, 2, 3 are same)

but good luck finding some! might be easyier to upgrade!

btw id take the cam out which isnt turning and cherck theres damage to trhe head, mine damaged the head slightly were the cam snapped!

which cam was it.

not very good very often. better if there exhaust side as the valves are plentiful.

yes there inlet and exhaust cams and there different.

there not identical but could be used.

where abouts are you.

It was exhaust side that went, and the shaft itself didnt snap it was the bolt that holds the pully on the shaft that snapped . I live in the south east near brighton. I'm sick because I only sold a willy head that I had lying around about a year ago.... :(

i think the exhaust valves are the same size.. mit you be ale to use a 1.8 camshaft on the exhaust and higher lift on the linet side from the williams... i dont know!

Possibly....

I have spare valves for the williams head....but be warned, the inlets will be expensive, as they are 90+vat from renault for a set of 4.

I also have williams std cams if they are needed, tho this may be the ideal time to upgrade!

btw the cam belt was intact and the inlet cam was sstill turning so valves should be ok.. Just the Exhaust ones that will be a problem...

Exhaust ones cost me a tenner each plus the vat from local motor factors, mine were warped to **** lol
