Went to slap some springs on the car today but on the first strut the nuts are badly rounded so i can't them off!

Whats the quickest and easiest way to get these removed...grage job or would an angle grinder take them off?

No welding gear and no airgun to hand i'm afraid.

Think it'll be the grinder TBH.

They'll be off in about 2 mins with a grinder, either that or hammer a slightly smaller socket over the nut

ok half an hour compared to 2 mins at most, even using a Sthil saw you could do it without damaging the strut

Y Not try a hammer and chisel, make and angles cut in the bolt and keep tapping at it, it will eventually start moving round after you have broke the grip..

Find that the cleanest way with out butchering everthing else, other wise i wud def do what northy sed..

No need to do that lol, hammer a 6 sided socket over it, that usually does the job, if that fails go for a slightly smaller 12 sided socket, if that too fails cut the ****er off and get a new nut and bolt

I see this thread is still provoking discussion! lol

Didn't manage to get onto this as car failed MOT...getting done next weekend though. I've bought all new bolts so will be grinding the current ones of...all of them...as i can't be assed straining myself to undo them.

The angle grinder is fast becoming my tool of choice atm, car related work or otherwise :)

One of the best tools i've brought, along with a big **** off screwdriver, lump hammer and 900mm breaker bar
