Coolant Temp Sensor maybe?

yeah unplug the coolant temp sensor (white plug under the dizzy cap) and makesure its clean and dry, mine did this so i checked all connectors, after cleaning them all it stopped doing it. So as matt says, could simply be a dodgey coolant temp sensor.

failing that, get a free emissions check done at a chain garage and see if your lambda's on the blink. either way, both are easily sorted
