did the sunroof i been planing for ever! lol

origional electric sunroof without motor weighs 10 KG
replacement alu weighs 1kg

healthy 9kg weight save :) put me about 850kg now

am waiting on my redtop 25 battery to arrive next + megan mani should get me to about 840ish :twisted:

n e way heres pics! tis not painted yet! but im gna spray it i nthe 449 so tis not to obviouse next weekend!

Thats better!

Make sure its nice and sealed around those rivets!

has no sealent on it atm. got some stuff to put aroudn the inside the rivits wotn leek as there well and truly squahed lol

when i fitted mine i also bonded it on aswell as using rivits, never leaked ever!! i couldnt believe the weight saved too!

yeah ive used mastic on the inside so it wont leek ever and its pretty SOLID with just the rivits there are abotu 50+ hm.

weight saved was well worth it!!! sunroofs are heavy fookers!

Need to do this on mine...my sunroof in 13kgs+, what thickness plate did you use?

Red top 25 saves a good 7 kgs...

I would like to rid mine but it would have to be bonded from the inside and then smoothed on the top so you could never tell it had a sunroof.

Am happy to go halves on the 449 paint with you. Am just down the road and need to do mine too :lol:

Why bother with paint? Scrub it back to metal, thin layer of primer, then laquer it ;) Weight saving to be had!

Unless my car was a track car through and through, I would never do that. Surprised you didn't take a metal sheet to the same dimensions as the glass roof and stick it on it's runners, but removing the motor etc.
