my willy 2 seems far too slow to me and top end is ridiculous at 112mph. could this be because the clutch is on the way out? havnt got any noticable slipage and the engine revs all the way to the redline in 5th! is there any quick tests i can do such as tryin to pull away in 5th and seeing if the car stalls?

check air feed to airbox, if its blocked/kinked it will restrict the engine

just took it for a drive it stalls in third if u try and pull away so doesnt seem like the clutch is slipping, but the limiter doesnt cut in until onver 7500rpm could somebody have chipped it and mapped it incorrectly or be running a different ecu?

Easy way to test for clutch (assuming you have a good handbrake).

Park up, pull the handbrake on real tight.

Try to pull away in first giving it some revs (no more than you normally would). It should stall. Clutch is doing it's job. To many revs and obviously you'll just drag the rear wheels.

If you're hitting 7000 odd revs at 112 in 5th gear, sounds like you have some funky ratio's or final drive going on inside that box.

Assuming standard limiter of 6500 in 2nd gear you should be changing to 3rd just before 60 at around 55mph.

Bit odd though. If he has a a higher ratio box, he should accelerate much quicker, and as mentioned his top end will suffer. So his comment about it being slow is odd (points to other problems maybe?).

Sounds daft but if you try it down hill straight can you get a higher speed at the same revs?

Lastly, borrow a GPS unit and check your speedometer against its speed.

lol (dont know why im laughing its not funny really) but that was downhill i was getting that speed. i took the ecu out and it has siemens s101715103 b on it, read somewhere on here that the serial number ending in 107 is williams ecu, ending in 105 is valver so assuming this could be an rsi ecu? renault arnt sure what ecu it is dont know why but they were rather vauge, it has a prima racing sticker on and they dont recognise it either

wont be ecu effecting the speed. but if you only get 112 at limiter in 5th its deffo a gearbox ratio problem, does it get to 112 quickly or are you just sayin the top end is slow? should be able to get 145 easily

might be a renault 19 16v ecu ?using a 16v ecu will just make it run lean anyway. open up the ecu box and see if the main chip has ben changed

iv got a valver ecu in there think thats what the problem is its chipped as well.
