View Full Version : gearbox fell off the mount
I spun out at an airfield day on sunday and the gearbox fell off the mount :(
looks like all 3 holes are threaded (all the thread is now on the bolts).
what would be the best course of action? some sort of liquid metal to glue the mount on to the box or helicoils? or aluminium welding?
helicoils and correct williams strap
and are helicoils something i can have done at the garage?
I'm a bit tired of fixing it :?
16v has a strap that bolts from the mount to the back of the gearbox.
williams has one that bolts straight over the top and down both sides.
transfers the loads from just the top bolts.

that looks to be exactly what I need...
just need to find someone to helicoil the holes now :(
mine did this the other day too.
Get to a fastener factors and get 1cm longer bolts. The holes go quite deep.

Or get the 19 16v mount, they sit under the box and take the pressure off the three top mount bolts.
Is the box from a 19?

ive got the 19 mount now as well! :)
maxi, those 2 mount look different :?
look different to what mate.
top ones standard 16v but with willy bracket.
bottom ones 19 ones but with 172 parts as there cheaper
the rear of the 1st one looks a lot shorter than the 2nd - it isn't kinked either
so i need the R19 one? but the 172 part number?
the strip is williams only. the extra mount fitted below the gearbox is 19/172

Oh I'm sorry, do you mean the little bit that wraps around that larger piece (in the first picture) with a single nut and bolt on it?
