View Full Version : Time for a new engine.
My big end bearing went about 3 months ago and it is now time to sort it out!! its a 1.8 16v, can anyone shed any light on the best place to get a 2.0 reconditioned and how much money i can expect to pay for the engine and fitment!! Am I best off just getting my current engine rebuilt with a 2.0 bottom end or sourcing the full shibang from somewhere and having it sorted!! cant wait to get it sorted as it is a very sore sight......broken car on the drive :( !!
pm stan on here. he can do a drive in drive out conversion. or in your case tow in drive out.
I can offer a full rebuild, but to be honest its cheaper to find a decent used 2.0 and have that fitted. This is what I would recomend unless you ABSOLUTELY think a rebuild is essential...in alot of cases it isnt.
no its not essential, I think a new 2.0 would be the better option, can you do this? if so what price am I looking at?
Williams engines are typically 400-700 depending on milage and whats included in the sale.
I charge £350 for fitting.
Alternatively a 2.0 megane f7r bottom end can be used on you current head. This would £450.
Stan, do you actually have any megane engines? (as you seemed pretty specific about the price). Oh and that a very good price to remove and refit an engine! :)

which is faster?
a straight 2.0 from either the willy or megane?
or a 2.0 B/E with a 1.8 head on it?
Adi's(?) old red beast had a 1.8 head didn't it?
willy or megane as they have larger valves(inlet) and slightly wilder cams
I have a 1.8 bottom end for sale on 80k, if you want it?
does anyone know the price offered at hill power for the 2.0 litre conversion....? I have tried emailing from the website but the page is not loading!
