I want to change my front disks and pads today to standard disks and Ferodo ds2500 pads. I got totally stuck when I came to undoing the caliper bracket bolts as they seem totally siezed. I treated them with plenty of wd40 and even tried my impact gun on one of them but this cracked the socket! Only thing I had left to use was a swan neck and open ended spanner. Obviosly had no socket to use on my breaker bar.
Has anyone else had this trouble before? The bolts are looking a bit worse for wear now...trying not to round them off. I can c myslef ending up chnaging the whole of the hubs at this rate! Any suggestions plz? 8)
try a blow torch on it...not the bolt head but were the bolt screws in.

K mate....if only i had one  I take it theres no other way of getting the disks off without removing the bracket for the calipers?
I've got a new set of the caliper bracket bolts if you need them mate..

you can get different sockets that are star shaped, they grip the flat section of the bolt head / nut insted of the corners, much better for things like these, use it on a long breaker bar.

Cheers mate...looks like i'll be popping into Halfords after work tomorrow.
you need to jerk the bolt sharply as there thread locked and this helps brake the seal.

Yup get a 6 point 18mm socket and use that... can't see it staying seized when you've got a breaker bar attached
