Use a drill to break the plastic weilds...and rip it all out.... I just left a small bit where the nut goes behind the plate

Hi Martin.

What does a Civic weigh to start with then? I reckon you can just about lose 200kg from a valver/Williams so 780kg might just be in reach

Where the f*ck are you gonna get 200kg!? lol, id imagine the chassis etc would have to be dipped, every component would have to lightened...it would cost a small fortune to get it that weight IMO

I think the eg civic weigh in at just over 1000 kgs so a touch heavier than a valver

I've weighed what I've stripped/replaced and it has now passed 180 kg. I still have a few ideas left, although it is obviously getting harder and harder to save each kilo now... But I reckon 200 kg is just in reach.

drilled the plastic backing and took it all off then attacked it with the air saw, but to be honest theres probably a maximum of 6kg weight saving, probably a bit optimistic with that.......

just take the inner skin of the bumopers out they look the same on the outside then will half the weight of the bumpers.

Weighed my civic at work today and it scaled 910kgs with 1/4 tank of petrol.

Quite pleased with that as I still have heavy ass 17s on and quite a few weight saving options to go for....will aim for 800kg and see how close i get....

In that bumper you could save more weight by drilling big holes in the plastic where the number plate goes, i know thats a little extreme but would loose some non essential plastic. :)

Had a look at my front bumper today and it's literally just the outside skin. My bumper is held on by 4 pins (2 at the front and 1 either side), so does away with the plastic mounts. You could opt for the same mod. Makes getting it on and off a doddle as well

The rear bumper is just the outside shell as well with the plastic left in place where it bridges to the chassis mounting points. Not sure how a rear bumper looks as standard though. It's fairly flimsy.

Got rid of all the arch liners yet? They aren't needed  Bit overkill on a road car maybe though.

Posh ****er, mine is held on by 2 cable ties and one little nut in the middle

erm there are 2 bolts underneath the bumper at the front, 2 bolts at the side to to remove the inner arch liners i think but not 100% sure and take the numper plate off and there 1 more bolt insitde the bumper which is STUPID!!!!!
