drove 100 miles perfect, next day no rain no abnormal conditions drives fine until you put your foot down bring it almost to the redline and change gear big bang car stops and then carries on. Any one got any ideas seems like i can never drive it with out something going wrong

cheers for any help :D

does it smoke when you get the bang ? or just dropping the clucth to quick and the engine hitting the bulk head ?

i let summy drive one of my old clio's and was a big bang as my engine did that, but only when revving the nuts off it

just changed all the mounts so im pretty sure the engines not moving havent checked for smoke but i dont really want to try it again as it feels like somethings going to break

mounts were fine on mine too, just didnt like very harsh gear changes lol

would do the same if you changed down to 3rd at about 80 and booted it

it feels like it looses power and it smells of petrol when its doing it

*note: I am a useless mechanic therefore may be talking bollocks* lol

Have you checked the plugs/leads? If you were getting a weak spark when there's lots of fuel going in then you'd lose power, wouldn't you? *shrugs*

its a start something to check im going to have a look in a while

just a thought i usually put super unleaded in but put normal stuff in shouldnt do something this bad though should it :?

Wouldn't have thought so, not unless it's specifically mapped for Super, in which case you'd be getting serious detonation and, ultimately, a dead engine...

don't think so i bought it all ready mapped so couldn't say 4 sure

any other ideas as i have now checked and the engine dosn't move that much smokes a little when changed but no different to when its rev'ed hard

in a near enough std engine a drop in ron wont cause detonation, it'll just loose you power

just to let everyone i have sorted the problem (touch wood) found out that the battery clamp had sheered off and the battery was moving all over the place and when accelerating it was shorting out on the coil, which was causing the problem.

thanks for everyones help :D
