I've got a stuttering problem when i give the the car very light throttle. The car idles fine at around 1000 revs, but as soon as you accelerate quite fast it then idles at 1500revs. As soon as i turn the engine off and start it again it idles at 1000 again???

Is this gonna be the lambda sensor? Also, is the lambda the red sensor near the throttle body?

That sounds more like the speedo cable to me.
The red thing is the throttle position sensor, the lambda lives in the exhaust just after the downpipe.

id agree with mat

take the top dash off and add an extra earth to the earth on the speedo cable

I think it may be the throttle position sensor then, as the power seems to cut out at a certain point on the throttle. Somthing very simaliar to this happened on my valver and once the sensor was changed it was fine.

Anyone got a throttle sensor i can buy?

ive got a spare but i may need it at some point, its a brand new one that cost a few quid

ive got one on an old throttle body you could try

but beware, messing with it can mess things up worse, they can be hard to setup properly

I'm gonna earth the speedo sensor tonight. Hopefully, should sort it out.

How does the speedo sensor alter the revs?

it senses the speed the car is doing and adjusts the revs higher, so for example is you dip clutch and roll up to changing traffics lights then slot it into 2nd and pull away again the engine revs dont drop to 'stationary' idle of 1000, the speedo tells the car its still rolling and likely to go again, aids smoother low speed gear changes i guess
