So for anyone who wants to know a 100% standard williams with a quarter of a tank of optimax and spare wheel, jack, boot carpet removed weighs exactly.......
960kg!
I was a bit pee'd with that to be honest - TOO HEAVY!

yeah i thought they were about 970kg standard, so thats not too bad is it??
980kg std iirc, so a decent saving there!

Aye I suppose - its just weight matters more with light weight hatches, every kg makes the world of difference!

Where did you weigh it m8? I wouldn't mind finding out how heavy my Cup is....
Chris
That's pretty good. Check out what it's quoted as in the handbook.
Mine was exactly 1000kg with a full tank of fuel and everything apart from the spare.
what do the stripped/semi stripped ones get down to?
About 900 kilos without resorting to stuff like cutting metal out, getting rid of the whole dash and using poly carb windows.
not bad that, i'd prefere semi stripped like that tbh

thats exactly how mine is :D 900kg:
2 buckets on subframes
no rear seats, shelf
underlay under carpet and tar stuff removed
spare and cage out
1/4 tank of fuel ( always run around that for weight reasons  )
supersprint and coilovers which are both lighter than oe items
still have all glass in and std heavy bonnet, all window/wiper motors, all doorcards, no metal cut, heavy willy wheels  etc

what sort of difference does the tar stuff make with regards to in car noise? wouldnt mind doing some semi stripping but would also like to have some form of 'standardness' and pop the seats back in and carpet etc.. without it sounding like a bake bean tin

that tar stuff makes road noise bit noisyer but not MUCH if u got a semistripped car u may as well take it out its about 8kgs worth of shiit u dont need :P
my oldwhite 16v was 860kgs but that was pretty much fully stripped bar perspex and carbonbonnet and cutting! so culd have wasily got it down to 840 kg

Chris
im gonna take mine to the local scrapyard for weighing it, theres usually always a weighing bridge so you can drive on, get it weighed, remove your bag of copper or whatever then they re-weigh it get your exact weight.

Twas the tip in Bolton Chris was just chucking one of the missus' bed side cabinets - asked if I could check the weight of the car on the way out...
How much does the boot tar weigh?
I'd quite like to remove it to treat the whole floor pan of the boot and repaint...

Its suprising what the tar hides underneith.. worth taking off for floor inspection, if cars being kept long term.
It weighs 12kg thats all the floor and door and roof stuff.
more tar under the carpets  from what i remember williams have extra tar plastered on the wheel archs and around the fuel pump area
