Undo the big nut that's up against the track rod and then just unscrew it. If you need to you can counterhold the track rod with a spanner, it has flats on it.
can also put a ring spanner over the track rod end to give a bit more leverage, use WD40 and some welly

I can't see how :?
I thought those notches might have something to do with it - but bent a screwdriver trying to rotate them :?
trying to remove the track rod, not the track rod end

There's a self locking washer inbetween the rack and the track rod, there complete b*sterd to unscrew... if you use two huge mole grips you should be able to unscrew them but you will need a new washer after.
Use two pipe wrenches that close and grip it as you turn it, gouges it ti **** but if you are removing it its not a problem, one goes on the washer closest to the rack and other on wider part, it is a complete bitch to do, when i got my new track rods from GSF they dint' come with any new locking washers (you'll see what i mean when you take them off), and you really need to replace them as they get trasshed unscrewing them
