Not bad Bass but where is the turbo?????

The new shape mr2 is a hairdressers car but not the mk2 shape.

But the new is supposed to be a much better drivers car, and is a hell of a lot lighter, so I know which one I'd go for! All three versions are nice though. 8)

it's about 160-170bhp i think.. 60 not sure yet has a few mods, definitly quicker than a valver, and much better above 80

His has cams headwork etc. Think 7.7 is the 0-60 for a valver anyway?

it's got gt4 head and cams, (like putting a willy head and cams on a valver basically!), so not much, but it's defo quicker than a valver.. but not by much!

not bad mate, altho these need the turbo imo due to the fat ass nature of them, 1300kg or so aint it

samg19882
08-08-2007, 17:49
thats exactly what im after a few years down the line.

how much did it set you back? i take it its a rev1 or 2?

Coops
08-08-2007, 19:43
can pick up a decent rev 2 turbo for under 3 grand these days!

Hulio
09-08-2007, 01:10
Yeah but you need to get a rev 3 for anything like good handling....
These things can do something where you lose the back end on a corner and then it suddenly grips again, a bit like a highside on a bike........SCARY!

bass_direct
10-08-2007, 01:36
haha yeah, it's a rev 1 i believe, it has power steering, abs, etc, my one is on apex all round/strut braces all round, seems to handle pretty good, doesn't quite have enough power for the back end to come out though lol badly needs a turbo!

Coops
10-08-2007, 11:07
knowsit, get it sold n get a rev 2 turbo, best one imo!

Very nice, always liked the MR2.
Get a rev3/ST205 GT4 engine in there! Have a much better head and turbo then the rev2/ST185 engine (i had a 185 GT4) Can get 300bhp with exhaust, de-cat, filter and boost increase
How are you finding the hendeling? Heard they take a bit of getting used to with the mid engine rear wheel drive setup.

samg19882
11-08-2007, 19:53
i know you just got it, but if you end up selling give me a message. i want a black mr2 n/a after the clio so i could be tempted to buy early.

handling seems very good, especially with the apex suspension, it's not as fun as the clio but still good.

Great cars :D I have owned 3 now in a year:

First one I bought was a non turbo (173 bhp revision 3) T bar:

http://img181.imageshack.us/img181/3082/mr21eq8.jpg

I then decided to go for more power when I was 19 so I bought a revision 3 turbo (257 bhp) which was great:

http://img181.imageshack.us/img181/5388/mr22el9.jpg

I then decided to sell my revision 3 turbo to buy my m8s one which needed abit of work done to it but was solid etc:

I am pritty sure standard bhp goes like this:

Rev 1 - 118 bhp or 143 bhp (0 - 60 7.7 secs on 143 bhp but not sure of 118 bhp)
Rev 2 - 158 bhp (0 - 60 again 7.7 secs)
Rev 3 - 173 bhp (0 - 60 7.7 secs once again due to weight etc)

Rev 1 + 2 turbo - 225 bhp (5.7 secs)
Rev 3 Turbo 245 bhp (5.2 secs)

No rev 3! Its faster and has a much stronger block + they done away with the air flow meter etc so they run better in general. Not only that but they put slam bars in the doors etc.

clio-16-valver
15-08-2007, 00:20
Oh and I forgot to add yours is 173 bhp version as you have a g limited which was imported (1, 2 and 3 all the same bhp)

Rev 4 and 5 dropped to 168 bhp but again is same 0 - 60 etc.

I think I have spent to much time on mr2s  lol

Is that a NUR Spec you had on your turbo clio-16-valver?

clio-16-valver
15-08-2007, 13:28
Yea it was a nur spec.

Also had one fitted to my black turbo and had one made for the non turbo.

The non turbo one was converted to fit and sounded nuts (111 db on the police gun lol! and that was with a cat in place!)

Best exhaust for the mr2 imo.
