I know i don't own a clio anymore but this site is still one of the best for mech related Q&A.

I have a ford escort now  which has new pads (put on jan 07) and brake discs which appear to be in good condition.

Recently when braking down to a halt just before i'm about to stop the brakes emit a grinding noise (coming from both sides), normally this is related to pads being worn but seen as the pads have loads of meat left on them this is not the case.

The only thing that has happened in recent times was a stone got caught in the N/S braking system and obviously made a right racket until i reversed the car and it popped out.

Any ideas on what could be causing this most distressing of noises?

more stones?

take pads off and see if there is any shite in them if you are sure they are ok, you'll find the insides wear quicker than the outsides, and its the outsides everyone checks

Checked the inside pads and they have oodles of meat left on them, are theyre any cleaning products available that can get any foreign crap out of the system?

are the discs grooved from something being inside and rubbing, you'll just wanna clean the surfaces that touch teh discs ie the pads, but if you aren't putting grooves around your discs i wouldn't worry about it

They are a little bit grooved on the N/S outer part of the disc but the O/S disc is fine and the inside N/S is good too.
