Didnt you only buy that car a week ago? And its already done a trackday?

Love the colour of that 306 - very similar to naples.

I like to think of the first track day as a shake-down test, to discover any little problems, so it was vital I did one as soon as poss. :P

First pic is  , whats the verdict on the 306 compared to the williams handling wise Matt? More tailhappy,as easy on the limit?

Yes and no.

Although I understand once you've sussed the tail happiness they're not deadly. Need to take the Xsara somewhere to practice Matt's 1st picture.

A lot more tail-happy. Pitch it into a bend without any throttle and the rear will slide round and you'll be on the apex without even applying steering lock. And a mear brush of the brake pedal will banish understeer mid-bend! However... it's actually easy on the limit because it's a big car with quite soft suspension settings - everything happens quite slowly, so you have time to react and it doesn't usually snap into nastiness.

Pace-wise, the Willy does edge it - it's sharper, stiffer and more agile than the 6. But the 306 does grip and go round corners amazingly well and the oversteer helps massively when you use it to good effect. And it's wicked fun. 8)

Unfortunately you need to be restrained and smooth with your inputs for fast lapping... something I've not mastered yet.

1st pic is awesome.

Yeah, takes some mastering dones the tail happiness, but its fun.

its very controllable and predictive with the passive rear steering but once you put it on harder suspension and solid rear mounts (like Ive done) you get it alot more 'snappier' but you can be lots more aggressive and hit the corners harder with the power

Chris - that looks like a very unorthodox angle of entry! Like it.

Mike - It's Peel. Though the left-hander after it (which seems to be un-named) was also a good place to play, as was Church. 8)

8) Looks nice and wide enough for gooning.

Corkscrew has to be done just for that very reason alone.

Lol yeah its the chicane after Shell...after a while I was turning and braking to get the back end a little loose which set me up nicely for the right hand part of the chicane...almost looked like I knew what I was doing by the end of the day ;)

Good to see you've got a 6 Martin, how long you had it? How you finding it? Had mine over 2 year now and not had any major problems, hardly spent owt on it tbh, been to ring 3 times and 1 trackday, hopefully a few more in the future.

Gotta love passive rear wheel steer tho, I've a thicker rear ARB which hightens it even more, pic below is full throttle but you can still see the rear gettin involved, just enough to sharpen the line.

Tip for you mate, tyre pressures are vital on it, if you find you want more oversteer somedays like on a particularly tight track increase the rear pressure, it'll make it more egdey and kick round, if you want it more planted then lower the pressures slightly, same goes for the front, if it feels a little slow to respond and turn in tyre pressures need upping. Found mine very sensitive to even 2-3PSI difference.

Got a few vids of mine also here -> http://www.zedsplace.co.uk/download.php?list.2

Do you mean me mate? Had it since the beginning of June. Absolutely love it. I had a China blue Ph3 6 for two years, so I knew how good they were anyway. Never had any problems with that at all, but this one has a fair few of the usually 306 issues that need attending too. But it was only £1900, so can't complain!

Cheers for that. I just ran them at 34psi all-round at Anglesey. Not sure about the thicker rear ARB, though - I definitately wouldn't want any more oversteer!

The colour you're talking about is Astor grey. One of my favourites too. Only available on Ph3s though, so you're looking at £2500 upwards really. Unless it's Cossack grey, which is available on the Ph1s.

Anyway! Gear ratios are one of the things that makes the car so great. First is really long - about 40mph - but the rest are all stacked close together like a proper short-ratio box, with sixth being the same as fifth in most cars rather than being an over-drive gear. Basically, it's mega. :D

It does have a few electrical problems (leccy windows n mirrors, air-bag lights, remote key for the alarm and immob and alarm motion sensors) but they're all pretty easy and cheap to fix. Apart from that, they're very solid cars compared to the Clio. Just make sure the cambelt has been change recently!
