View Full Version : oulton park trackday/meet (camping/bbq) 2nd november 07
Ok, we will be hopefully attending oulton park for a trackday and then camping/bbq after...
the proposed date is:-
friday 2nd november (open pitlane)
this is with easytrack and are currently priced at £119 -
http://www.easytrack.co.uk/homepage.asp
everyone who has/had credit from the cancelled oulton park trackday in feb should have recieved a email off gaztwo regarding using the credit for this if they wish, the idea is to do the trackday then camp on the friday night and have a bbq laugh etc gaz/northy and the rest of the locals will look into places to camp for me
please note you dont need to book the trackday to attend, you are welcome to come to the trackday to watch/passenger ride and camp over/bbq with us as this is a club meet/trackday combined!
i am more then happy to take anyone out for passenger rides in my trackcar, and im sure everyone who is on track will be the same, you just need to register as a passenger with easytrack on the morning!

hey mate i'll be camping it... if its to windy or cold i can always sleep in the back of my wagon :D Not driving up in the morning tho as its just to far for me!
cool, reason i said to was so after the trackday everyone can relax, have a drink and a laugh instead of rushing off, it was a good laugh at angelsey 05 and it was cold that night, just to many being big girls (no offence to the ladys! :) )
im only about 2hr away max so nothing major for me but im happy to stop somewere, just dont wanna spend £50 on a travelodge lol

Yeah I'd rather have the craic myself rather than rushing off bagsy a space in Gaz's lean green fighting machine then

Middlewich and Knutsford are £15 per night, bargain!!!!!
well if you can get one at a good rate then we can go with that, will be comfyier and warmer and as said we will just ahve to meet up for a drink/bite to eat! :)
Don't feel comfortable with leaving the trailer in some hotel car park tbh.
Part of the 2006 brands rs day being so good was the beverages the night before with all the wc & cs lot....the travel lodge sounds good.
I'm sure we could block your trailer with other cars or something summeh if your worried about it dissapearing?
Buy a wheel clamp for car n trailer if you're that worried mate.
Buy a wheel clamp for car n trailer if you're that worried mate.
Won't really do much if someone wants to take it anyway, at £3500 a pop for a trailer I'd rather not risk it to be honest, as I'll be the one who ends up paying for it.

insure it then if you are worried  tbh if someone is going to nick it they will nick it. I cant see an opportunist thief taking all that trouble to take it if the car and trailer is blocked in by other cars.
additionally if there are people in warrington going to the do maybe you could leave it at there house on the trailer and get a lift in with them for the do and someone drop you off in the morning.
Got a few things to sort out on the car, well a few major things, and alot of minor things before i track it, if i get the major things sorted by oct time then i'm in
unbolt the tow hook from trailer
they'll be good to use as wets as well mate, better than t1r's, as they are a medium compound, so should heat up ok in the wet/damp.
How do the medium ones fair in the dry, i tend to melt my road tyres after about 3 laps of most circuits

same here mate. Not tried the r888's so couldn't comment, just passing on what i've been told about there wet performance. I would say t1r's and f1's etc are probably a soft to medium compound, as they need to be good for cold conditions.

i want to get some slicks for this trackday where the hell do i get some from????
i want to get some slicks for this trackday where the hell do i get some from????
I wouldn't recommend it unless your car has a roll cage and lowered/stiffer shockers. Most circuits won't let you on with slicks unless you have a roll cage at least.
R888's as above would be ok though!
Demon tweeks will sell new slicks but they are about 150-200 per corner I think! I'm not sure where to get them as I've got the same problem myself now, but you could try some old racing teams. The problem now is no one seems to run 15" wheels, so part worn slicks are quite rare to come by.
best trying to contact clio cup teams, although not sure how many spare 15" slicks they will have now as they have gone to 17" wheels i think!
i want to get some slicks for this trackday where the hell do i get some from????
slicks clio = bad idea
look on grouop buys get some semi slicks road legal like me and gaz ]
ask martin what happened to him lol
why are they a bad idea lol, ive had no problems with them, same with bayliss and others

remember that martin was running semi slick avons at the time iirc.
ive run semi slicks and they were orite, but slicks seem much better. main difference is the composition and compound, allowing them to last longer than road tyres, and heat up properly allowing better grip. also stiffer sidewalls reduces tyre flex through corners.
Thats the main thing lasting longer, road tyres go off far too quickly
slicks are way forward gaz admit it, lol

I hope to be on this one :D

if you had credit just ring them up and transfer it over, if not you could buy scotts and ring them again and get that transfered over, it is free to swap it over
otherwise you will just have to pay/book like normal :)
cheers will call today as they never reply to emails
cool, look forward to seeing your car there!
i 'SHOULD' be in my 16v, hoping the new engine is all good this weekend when it goes in!
Rang Easytrack and have swapped over to Nov 2nd...
Lets hope:
1. I have a car
2. its not snowing :D
lol best not snow!
my engine is ready now, going in this weekend so hoping al is ok!
if i survive donny im booked in for this one.....
what time you all getting there
will be there early on the morning to get ready, but i will only be running the 1.8 now, not that its slow
what times briefing??
might actually try and make one b4 i get out on track lol.
iirc the gates open at 7.30, sign on is from 8am on and briefing from is 8.45
How much is it for an extra driver? Can pay on day for that can't I!
i beleive its £50??
if anyone who got the email can confirm the times for briefing that would be great!
oh northy, i will be back on 1.8 power so watch out
i could be in the valver meself yet lol
i could be in the valver meself yet lol
i will 100% def be on 1.8 power now! swaping the engines a few day before oulton!
whats wrong with the 2.0 mate??
hmm were to start lol
it struggles to start and when turning over sounds as if its got compression leaking out, and its now developed a loud rattle from the top end which dont sound like a tappet unless one has suddenly failed! :x
so im not gonna take any risks and just fit the 1.8 back in, pull this 2.0 apart and have a look whats fooked!
pain in the arse but i have all winter to work on it, wont take long to swap engines too
nah. not worth the risk tbh mate. have em swapped in a couple hours.
yeah wont take too long!
just to let you all know, me and bayliss are stopping at the travelodge at middlewich about 7mile from oulton park, just cuts down on travel time then!
just off the A54, CW10 0JB
I managed ti get out at donnington on sunday, in the wet but never mind...........
I will be there friday, what time do the gates open, briefing etc etc
i have the answer to my last question, scroll up a page !!!!!
are there still places on this?
there all gone according to there website mate, might be worth ringing see if can get on reserve etc
just want to say thanks to everyone who turned up, nice to meet new and old faces, was a cracking day! looking forward to the next oulton park outing! just need to sort the car out lol
:D
aye. another top day at oulton. good to see the clios holdin their own still. good to catch up with evryone again too.
and i found a cheapish way to repaint my car lol.
Yeah awesome dry track day!!!!
Some comments from the catreham lot: "Those race clios are going well!!!"
