Hi my block on my williams has some excessive corrosion on and around the water ways and pitting on the block surface it is now under where the sealing ring is for cylinder. i was just wondering if any1 els has had this because it's just put a halt to my engine re-build and i'm stuck for ideas i don't really want to spend 4g on another from renault. it's covered 270,000m so i'm thinking its not meant to last that long anyway but is their anything i can do i.e have it welded up and re-machined

any ideas....please.

i know you have uprated pistons in you turbo, but is their enough clearance to get it skimmed. or does that not matter for you as it's running low comp.
Sorry mate can't take any pics till tomo engine is in work.

no there usually a little give in the block face. when building normal high compression engines we always had the pistons run into the headgasket space.

think you should have 0.25 to 0.5 mm.

to be honest i don't know if that will be enough but will put some pics up tomo and you can tell me what you think. that would be fine for the pitting but not sure bout the water jackets corrosion.

prob because some stingee twot didn't bother putting proper coolant in it just water.

I had mine skimmed about 0.004" to clean up the face
