My question is... do the cv joints come off the shaft of do you have to take the shaft out and strip it from the inner end out?

memo: dont bother with stretchy boots they dnt last very long at all!! 2 days in fact

stretchy boots are the shizz mate ,what makes you say
they dont last ??

as for your question ,the cv joints can be removed from
the shaft at both ends but putting them back peoperly is
a bitch ,so dont bother and take the shaft out imo.

remember to drain the g/b oil if it is the passenger
shaft you are taking out

My last valver i went through 3 stretchy boots in a month.... and ive fitted countless ones now so its annoying me when its only my car they keep going on! i just dont think they are strong enough tbh, did mine on my hybrid thursday gone, by sunday it had a huge split in it! ordered a normal cv boot now, (outer) but dont want to remove the whole shaft, and gearbox oil to change it!!

well there must be something wrong somewhere
with your strechy boots mate .
the standard item on renault cars are all strechy as far
as i have seen so far and they last quite well .

are you using universal strechy boots by any chance ???

also even if you dismantle the cv joint i doubt you
will be able to get the non strechy one over the tullip
without damaging the boot .

Stretchy as in the ones that you use a cone to push them over the joint itself, using amk boot tommorow harder than the stretchy one which is why the shaft has to come out!!

Grr! Reno's!
