Play in the steering wheel!!!!

I hit a pothole last nite at about 5mph and felt a click in the steering wheel, now i can feel a little play in the wheel all the time, any1 know what the problem is and how it can be fixed?

Surely his steering wheel would only need welding if it clicked when he hit a pothole if it has already been welded due to the fact that the usual reason for play in the steering is due to the perishing of the rubber in the column?

I recon it must have been welded and has come undone like mine did.

My dad welded mine, nearly set the car on fire lol.

All the rubber whats worn away sets on fire lol
