My steering column UJ has loads of play in it which i can see when i lift the big rubber boot of the base of the column... but im struggling to find one.

I just want the base part of the column with the uj attached and prefrably new.

Has any one replaced one of these and if so where did you get it from?

HELP!

it is this part that needs welding to remove the play.

I got mine welded last week so it passed the mot. Works a treat, although we nearly set my car on fire in the process.

I have play in my coloum (ohh err) but that pic which shows the welded part makes no sence to me as on my coloum its all one part (the splined part is intergrated into the joint, its all one piece of metal), the play from my coloum comes from the upper part where the splined shaft goes into the main part of the coloum( the black coated metal part)
are there 2 types of coloum?

no mate. theres two types of play. steering play caused by the joint above. and there are bushes in the column that hold the shaft. if these are worn you need a new or secondhand column
