As the title says...

Why does my clio tick over at 2500rpm when warm?

Ive finished fixing loads of mechanical problems with my Clio 1.8 16v but i cant stop the revs from raising to 2500 when it is warm,,, sometimes it revs to 1800 also.

When it is cold it revs just above 1000rpm as i would expect but when it gets hot it raises...

The cable is new and fitted correctly before anyone says its that!!!

I just want to know if it is a coolant sensor or air flow meter! Ive also just got 150 miles out of half a tank... Is this normal?

Oh mods are just a filter and exhausts and de cat.

Hope you can help

Do a search for the road speed sensor/speedo sensor, it's got something to do with the way its earthed behind the clocks i do believe.

Drove it this morning and it didnt rev up as much but hardly gave it any because the girlfriend was in the car...

thinking about it if i keep the revs down they dont rise much....

How do you fix the earth thing then? Just add another earth wire to it?

Cheers Coggi

yes mate just re-earth the cable. does the idle re set itself when you turn the engine off. if so then its more than likely the speed sensor on the speedo cable. try re earthing first then if that fails a new cable.
