Hi chaps I thought I'd share my current install. I know this kind of thing maybe frowned upon as after all I’m doing this to my Williams! I use the car as my daily drive and really cherish it.

I estimate the overall weight increase is sub 30kg but considering how light I am this will make no significant difference to the performance at all.

I have been a member of talk audio for 5 years so have gained quite a few skills from following other people’s guides (this is my other hobby).

The install is based on a sound quality install and I have used high quality components and taken time and effort to get this right. My car is completely standard so very quiet. I have only used dynamat extreme on the doors (very sparingly) to suppress vibration caused by the speakers .

I will let the pictures do the talking, I have plenty more pictures to follow :)

Pioneer 88rs source unit (Reference Series)

jeez mate! u have been busy!!! cant beat having quality sounds!!!! i have all KENWOOD components in mine! changed all 6 of the standard speakers to kenwoods, and got a 12" kenny sub, 350watt kenwood amp, kenwood Mp3 usb headunit, even bought the kenwood lead to allow me to use the steering column control. and im running all my music of a 120gig usb powered external harddrive....

ive also got a 7" monitor and a mini dvd player which i want to make some kind of install for in the front but i dont want to mess about with the interior in any way(any ideas???) plus ive got a freeview decoder box as well....

Ok the k2 power 27 kx subs are 4ohm single voice coiled

So by wiring the sub in this configuration (see picture) you will get 325wrms going to each sub.

how do you reach the accelerator pedal! :P

106diablogti
09-07-2007, 22:57
No need for the accelerator these here parts, too many speed bumps

The pod doesn't obstruct the pedal, well for me :D

Gonna be a very nice install when it's done mate. Great job.

I'd be surprised if it only adds less than 30-kilos though!

Well put it this way its going to be far lighter than a passenger : )

The heaviest parts are the sub and box 6kg's for the sub and 4kgs for the enclosure.

Mdf I have added is only 12mm thickness so very light, 6kgs tops. My amps weigh under 10kgs. and the front pods and speakers are no heavier than 6kgs

Sub 6kgs
Sub enclosure 4kgs
Mdf in total 6kgs
2 x amps 10kgs
Pods and speakers 6kgs
Wiring 3kgs

So around 35kgs, which to be honest won't make any notificable difference to performance. I have distributed the weight evenly accross the car so it has no effect chucking it in to the corners.

Yes the pods are connected where the old speakers were. All you need to do is take the speakers out and access the screws from behind :)

Honestly there is tons of room, my leg never touches the pods while im driving. I think the angle I took the picture and the light doesn't help.

its one of the nicer places to drive that i've been!

try living in sussex where everyone does 10 under the limit - the roads a bone shakingly worn and there are no dual carriageways. :(
