Sorry guys, I've trailed through loads of threads about this dreaded thing and I'm still unsure!!
Took mine off without knowing its importance. Have put it back on and engine is running so so. Just wanna check that all is good.

1) What is the best way to measure the thing and how do you adjust it?
2) Does it look in the correct place?
3) What is the connector pictured used for?
4) Should I have that gap between the screw pictured?

AFAIK, you need an X25 to set it properly. If you are the patient type, trial and error is an option.

You really need to get it set up correctly on a Clip or XR25 diagnostics kit. Any reno specialist will have a Clip that can set it up for you and not rip you off like reno. It only takes 2 minutes.

You can't really judge by looking at the pictures, because each car will be different. Should have marked it before you removed it (I've made the same mistake).

The plug looks like it is for the throttle body heater located underneath, although it won't have one unless its a 91 valver TB.

What are the symptoms if the TPS is not set up correctly.
