You can only use your no claims on one vehicle. The rest you have to insure with 0 NCD or do as a couple of friends have done and get a trade policy.

Some will give you some NCB or you can get family fleet cover policies.

Admiral/Elephant/Bell will match your NCB on a 2nd vehicle if your insured with them, i've done this twice now so have 3 policies with full NCB.

I just needed to get insurance quick for tax so went with my existing insurer Churchill who quoted me 250 for my new omega i'm using for towing, didn't realise i couldn't use my 8yrs NCB on second car though, went up to 570 without!! bloody criminal.

Will definitely look in to moving unless they can match quotes.

Endisleigh (sp) allowed me to 'mirror' my NCD onto another car...

From what I can tell it is pot luck what each insurer does so just shop around. I ended up with four lots of 9 years no claims bonus when I had policies on each car as they always matched what I had already. Then I wanted my wife to have 3rd party coverage on any car so changed one policy to her name, and now she's got 9 years no claims to transfer on the next time - and she hasn't even been driving for 9 years! It's just as odd with the protected NCB stuff - you can protect your x years NCB, but if you claim you will still end up paying more to renew than someone with x years NCB that never made a claim, so it's not entirely 'protected' is it! Most insurers weight their risk models differently, so if you try enough of them one will work out better for you.
