Steering rack prices?

As above, what's the cheapest price anyone knows of for a power steering rack for a 1.8 16v?

There's a little bit of play in mine, so may as well replace it whilst the engine's out.

Had a look on GSF, and they want 165, plus 100 surcharge which i probably wouldn't get back for ages, then VAT on top. Seems alot?

Or does anyone know if you can replace just the ends of the rack like i did on my old vectra GSi? Would be a cheaper option to say the least!

are you sure its not the column that has play in as this is a very very common fault on clios

I've already done the column welding!!!!

Yeah mate it's defo in the rack. Bit of play both sides, 1 side more so than other. The play will be where the arms join the rest of the rack.

Theres a lad on retro selling a 19valver rack,dont know if it would fit valver tho due to 19's wide track :oops:

I've just taken the PAS rack and column out of my 40k miles valver to put a manual setup in. Was working perfectly. PM me if it is of any interest.

Got one from unipart. £140 + VAT.

It's a reconditioned one, but i'm sure it'll look & be as good as new as never had any problem with reconned things from there before.

Better than GSF's £160 odd + VAT. Are they recons too?

I fancied getting a new one, just incase i had any more trouble with a second hand one. I don't fancy doing this job again for the time we'll have the car. :roll:
