I got this car for doing a car collection job from London for Matt - lewis_willy2 should remember wanting this car :winkey:. (December 2006)

I bought it as a non runner from Matt - originally to brake for spares. (As i wanted the bonnet for my race car) Once i got it home the girlfriend decided she wanted it so we decided to repair it. It wasnt actually all that bad.

Jobs to do, new full exhaust, new handbrake cables, new rear pads, new ball joints, new trackrods, replacement ecu (to cure a imobaliser fault) and get it running - and repairs to radio loom, reconnected / rerouted some of the engine loom and fuel pipes. And gave it a bloody good clean inside and out. It needed a full set of 4 tires aswell.

As it looked after a clean.....and starting the repairs (December 2006)

It then sat on my drive for 6 months until she was ready to take over the ownership.

Replacement alloys fitted - with brand new tires. I think these will be repainted soon.

And last friday it went in for MOT - Failed on a headlight alignment and the rear fog light that had stopped working since i tested it the day earlier.
To say the car has never been driven by me at all i was well made up with it after it got me there and back.

First was a trip for some fuel (1 mile down the road) It made it !!! - it ran alot better with fresh fuel in....

And parked up ready for the doctor to inspect it !

Problems to fix - only one actually. It runs hotter than it should. so im hoping a new thermostate will cure that one. Oh and the drivers window didnt work.

Im well happy with this motor and its really smooth to drive. Toni will have her first drive in it tonight....

So thats 1 down - 2 to go. 0171 and the exhybrid.

Good work Mr N! Bargain motor there. And it'll look a lot nicer with the wheels done. What colour has been decided on?

i agree about the wheels, but its worked out well tbh. Will see what colours we can come up with.

White or gunmetal is her fav so far ?

Gunmetal all the way - white will be continually covered in brake dust.

:D

Job well done there Rich, another one saved from destruction.

Excellent work Rich. Looks pretty tidy tbh, only thing I spotted was the paint looks a bit mismatched between panels.

there are some differances in colours guys - but you carnt complain really.

Tailgate, front bumper and bonnet are differant reds to the rest of the car.

Oh aye! Something's definitely very odd about all this. Seems to be no rhyme or reason as to which ones have it. :?

from what i can see of the rear bumper its never been painted. I have only seen one other 'naples' valver with this.

I actually quite like it tbh.

Well the ph1 in the original Renault TV ad doesn't have it so who knows what determined whether they came with a lower black bit.

FWIW I also quite like the look of it.
