starter motor................

I ran my hybrid with no starter motor heat shield on and when the engine got hot and (consiquently the starter) the stator motor did not turn over properly. It did smoke once or twice whe i tried to turn it over :? . I have now fitted the heated shield and it is still the same.
Is the started totally buggered? Or could it be something else.

Check it's not shorting anywhere and that the nuts on the starter connections are tight.

If it was smoking when trying to turn it over sounds like it's excessively jammed and that was the extra current trying to turn it over, melting the wires etc.

yeah could be bad earths and it staining to cut the current though

With that total beast of an engine it must have overheated mate! Smoke = not good. Probably fried it..
