Got my new engine running now - thanks to a new alarm and immobiliser (ouch). I can't get the speedo cable in the gearbox. Is there a knack to doing this? Also when i ease off when driving the revs dip right down and almost stalls. Is this due to having the speedo cable out?? Also would this effect idel speed?

yes could be the speedo cable. what fittings have you on the end. white sleeve with a black clip.

Yup not having speedo cable in affects idle, when I dont have mine in it idles much higher.

On my speedo cable (think its ****ed) but its just a square bit of cable sticking out which fits into a square pastic bit in the box, obv u gotta line it up.

there should be a white clip/sleeve in the box and a black clip that fits over the end of the cable that clips onto the white sleeve and holds it in place

Yeah got all that stuff, just having a job getting the damn thing lined up! There is no way of twisting the inner cable when its in the hole is there!

no but you can turn the driveshaft/wheel until it pops in.

Thanks for the tip. Has the car gotta be in gear or in neutral
