Im researching in to buying new tyres.

ive seen these: Avon ***
ZV3 195/50 R15 82V asymmetric
http://www.tyre-pictures.com/Avon/ZV3.jpg

these tyres are £30ish each and score very highly in all tyre tests.

Average of 9 completed tests
Score: 1-best 6-worst Ø2.1
Grip in dry conditions 1.6
Braking in dry condtions 1.7
Grip in wet conditions 2.4
Braking in wet condition 2.3
Grip in snow 4.7
Comfort 2.4
Tyre noise (in car) 2.0
Tyre noise (external) 2.0
Tyre wear 2.3
Kilometers driven 65.418

with those stats the tyre out performs alot...beaten only by eagles and a few others..
what you think?

Have used Avons on a Porsche 944, good tyres wore really well, but got to agree with Big HP Eagles or Potenza from Bridgestone.

Indeed. Toyo T1R's at £45 a tyre from Mytyres.

Will they not sit very wide on the rim?? 195s are quite chunky...I have the Toyos in 195/45 flavour.

Probably. I am expecting to lose a bit more of my wings on track, but who cares.

i've got those avons and think they're one of the best all round tyres. i'll be getting another set soon.

the goodyears are better wet weather tyres, but not better tyres IMO

go for the avons - you'll like them 8)

They look very nice gunner...stay away from the potenza SO-2's they are very soft and wear out quick.

Avons wear very well, currently got 30k on my ZZ3s, not a single problem either. F1s stick like shit to a blanket and pull the car round bends so well. Curerently rate teh Toyo t1-R as were selling these in masses due o performance Vs £s.

How is it possible to get 30k miles from a set of tyres? I think the best I have ever managed is about 10k for all 4 tyres if they are rotated. Tend to average about 6k miles for all 4 or less with trackdays.

Also my 205's arrived today. :D

Id have a good think about these gibbo, they may score high on the reifentest which is what im assuming u got those figures from, but i suggest you see what the reifentest actually is.

Its basically average scores. All of which are voted for by normal people who have said thay bought the tyres and tested them properly.

Yes you might get a few decent drivers casting their opinion, but in the same breath you might have tonnes of chavvy bastards voting who know nothing of cars whatsoever.

Stick with what you know m8

PE2's

Or

Eagle F1's

Also avons seem to be designed more for higher perfomance cars such as porsches.

I spent most of the morning (no exageration) deliberating over what tyres to go for - 185s or 195s, F1s or Potenzas. Went for 185 F1s in the end (£241). Can't wait....how sad is that?!
