View Full Version : 16v engine and box with FSH - £70
Due to picking up a williams engine this weekend, the current engine and box will be for sale in a few weeks time.
Engine has a fully stamped service history. We've had the car about 4k miles, and has had an oil change in last 2k with fully synthetic. Engine has recently been out, so gearbox oil was re-filled with synthetic gearbox oil. The coolant was coolant colour when i got it, and has had a coolant change when engine was put back in. It's had a brand new valeo clutch less than 1k miles ago.
The engine & box both run sweet as a nut for 118k miles. Tappets will very rarely tap for about 2 seconds when started in morning sometime.
Engine will be in the car for the next few weeks, so can be seen running and can take you out for a spin.
Price is £70, just looking to get some return on the new engine. Based in Wrexham, North Wales. Any questions feel free to ask.
can the engine be removed sooner?
Craig
Very interested mate do you have any pics?
Stan, i haven't got the time to remove any sooner unfortunately, due to work etc... & the fact the mrs drives the car on a daily basis, so would be left without a car, & we live out in the countryside! There's a possibility i might be able to do it sooner, but i can't give dates realistically.
I will get some pictures up tonight if i have time before work!
Cheers,
Al
^^^ or should i say Craig sorry! D'oh!

After double checking, there are some stamps missing out the service book, but most are there.
Cheers,
Al
Also forgot to mention that the guy we bought it off had it since it was 6 months old. I'm only the 3rd owner since new.
I asked the guy, and it has never had to have any major work done to the engine or box. It apparently had a cambelt at about 90k, but have no proof. I would recommend changing it whilst the engine was out just to make sure.
where abouts are you based mate?
Based in Wrexham, North East Wales mate.
Bit far from you! Saying that, i went down to essex yesterday to pick the willy engine up!

thats my baby, tryin to get rid, i want a 5 gt turbo, or an rs turbo, summat different, cos there aint many of either round by us
im only down the road in oswestry!!
my o my i wish i had better stuff to do, but hey im still young, and i love my cars
I'm only 24!!!
We have a horse & a dog to look after too, so we never get any time to chill! Hence we're sad & stay in at night! Used to know all the local lads on the car parks once upon a time!!!
Can't be arsed wasting the money on the fuel as well if i'm honest. & most definitely preserves the life of our little renault!
Your car looks cool mate, but i must admit, not seen it around here before. Do you come down at night? Ours is on a N plate, lowered on dark grey 17" kahn RSRs if you see it about.
Bumpety bump bump!
Engine is coming out today. Engine is still running perfectly, but will need a new cam cover gasket, as i've just had a problem with oil in the plug wells.
I will be swapping all the sensors with the ones on the willy engine, as i know mine all work perfectly, but will fit all the willy sensors into the valver engine. I have got some videos on my phone of it running from cold and when warm.
1 other thing i need to mention is that there's a noisy bearing from cold until it starts to get warm. I think it's the water pump bearing possibly.
As mentioned before, engine has a good history and is a brilliant runner.
if you dont want it scoobs i will take it off you.
Second dibs.
Ok guys, first dibs to scoobs, seconds to northy! PM replied scoobs!
BUMP!
This is now back up for sale i'm afraid! Just had a message off Scoobs, and turns out that after holding it for him for about a month, he can't have it now.
Change of plan of sale now though:
I have loads of bits, and want to sell it all together if i can.
I've got the engine, both manifolds, all sensors (swapped from new willy engine as said above), box, loom, ecu, pas pump, starter motor, radiator, nearly all hoses, header tank. Also have a knackered alternator which could easily be re-conned.
I am selling all this for £150 - which i think is pretty fair & is sort of the deal i agreed with Scoobs previously. Really need all this gone now, as it's taking up big space in my unit, and the willy engine's been in and running well for a while now.
Cheers,
Al
If your prepared to split, I wold like to buy the PAS pump if it does not make any noise :) (posted price please :D)
To be honest I would buy everything to have spare stuff engine and box, but your a pretty long way up in North Wales (i'm West Devon).
Matthew
To be honest mate, it's a bit noisy!!!! Don't think i've come across one that isn't. Strange though that when i fill the fluid up a bit, it quietens completely - then the extra fluid gets spat out through the cap!!!
I've got interest in the engine and box at the mo, so all the other bits are still available. Loom, ecu, radiator etc......
Ok, I appreciate the honesty on the pump :D I have considered driving for the engine, but mines still going at present (and a recent gearbox anyway)... but does get through a little oil.
