yepo was on flat ground matey... bear in mind a 12 year old speedo will be out sllightly

only mods are running 13's so its sick off the line in the dry.. rear fully stripped, green open induction kit with CAF, side exit zaust.

madness  i owned an RSi awhile ago, great little motors and alot easier to work on than the valvers and willy's for sure. Top work I still think thats about the same as my hybrid you know  I will pop a video up of mine

i cant see my RSi being that pace, its certainly quick for what it is but... that speedo vid is another level...

weird, the Rsi I had idled really smoothly, was abit tappy but nice and smooth. My Hybrid is really lumpy when its cold but it is almost normal when it's up to working temperature

samboRT

its getting a good service, waiting on sum bits n bobs through the post which should help it run smoother.. :)

performance leads, plugs, oil/filter change, new dogbone mount

8)

does youre run ok on idle with the cams, my brothers old cammed up GTi was lumpy as fook... but they were a stupid lift on them!!

how reliable are rsi engines in comparison to valvers? as i'm planning on dropping a 16v lump into mine in the next couple of months but i dont want it to be breaking down every 2 mins, i do drive the car pretty hard at times

In all honesty, I would say the RSi engine but it all depends on your luck, how you drive it and if you worry about a little noise that might go away as your timing belt tensioner siezes up and all hell breaks loose that sort of thing  Tbh, I don't think the swap from the RSi engine to 16v is worth it completely....The RSi has torque low down and off the mark, is a little bit quicker through the first gears imo. Then again, the rev happy 16v engines are fun when they are wound up

Sorry forgot to add i've only got a 1.4 RT at the moment, the car is stripped/buckets/lightweight wheels/coilovers on the way/valver front end...its just ready for a lump!

I know the Rsi isn't much slower than the valver, i cant make my mind up because you see wanted threads for 16v gearbox's everyday!

cliogav

Sorry i'm hi-jacking the thread a little here, i'll start a new one!

The Rsi looks very quick though sambo :D

lol its ok gav mate..

yeah the RSi is much better lower down i feel to the valvers.. block weighs a hell of alot less too in comparison.. they are lighter stock so they do have that edge.

from the vid you can see they are really quick to 60-70 but they aint top end monsters.. its gets to bouncing off the limiter in 5th quite easy though hehe

around 70 is where they start to loose that puff and where the valvers power starts to come in to play :)

His speedo is showing 95mph after 13 seconds, -5mph for inaccuracy add another 2 seconds should be doing a true 95mph? Get this thing down santa pod :P

haha cheers lads... yeah i think im getting it down to pod early june time.

to 60 it edges quick valvers but then after that, as i said i think it would dtsrt slowing on the pod.. i think mid 15's would be about right.

its getting a good service today too, when that vid was taken im getting misfires towards top end revs as one of my sparkys is dying out lol

should run sweet as a nut then :)
