I am looking at buying a clio that is clamed to be a hybrid, and i was wondering if you guys could tell me a easy way of telling if it is or not, i.e where the engine type is printed on the engine.
Also the seller says:
"the car hunts and chugs for the first 10 mins then goes away. ive been told by members of the owners club that it could be a temp sensor or the throtle possitiong sensor or the iscv (idle speed control valve)"
Is this true? And is it as easily fixed as he implys?
Cheers

Ben

not a clear indication but if its got a tubular exhaust manifold aswell, allthough some hybrid owners keep a valver one fitted for torque reasons

The F7R block had strengthening veins down the back. Do a search for the pic its on here somewhere.

on the test drive, hold the revs at 2500 in 2nd. if it pulls well instantly, its prob a 2.0 if it struggles a bit below the 4500 mark .itl be a valver.

Seemed a bit cheap so wanted to make sure that it was actually a williams engine. As you found out Clio-Girl there's plenty of people out there willing to rip you off! :x

Thanks for the replys people, looks like i should be able to tell (i have a vavler engine sat in my shed for comparision)

Thanks for the pic.
Gonna go down on sunday to have a look.
Do you guys think it sounds ok from the advert? (apart from he says the engine came from a 1996 williams 2) Shell looks very good. Just seems a bit cheap.

Could quite easily be a typo.

It was a williams engine in it so i bought it for £1200 :)
Got a few goodies aswell that he did mention. It had had the bottem end bearings and gasket changed (as stated in the ebay auction, but with recepts) but it also has a group n head gasket and a R5 uprated clutch, and the exhaust is a full system not just a back box.
The altinator has a dodgy connection so the battery wasn't charging properly, which was ok untill i stopped it and tried to bump it off! It started but the jolt seems to have knocked the c clip off in the diff as the sspeedo goes up when it's in gear but the car dosn't move!
Ended up doing the last 25 miles on a good old RAC recovery truck!
Should hopefully get it sorted soon (will start another topic as i could do with come advice about how to fix it) and then i will post some pics etc up.

Dam no eidt button!!!
I ment to say that there was goddies that he didn't mention! Saw the reciepts for them in the folder he gave me.

Also saw the nice R5 turbo 2 he had just bought! Bit of a monster!! About 210bhp out of a 1.4 turbo driving the rear wheels!! Good old group B!!!

Also forgot to mention he fixed the hunting problem, it was the C02 sensor in the exhaust 8)
